Assignment Number 2: Politicizing the Body (due 2/20)

In what ways is the Body the site of political discord in Culture? Consider the following in crafting your expository essay. 
(1) Four ways in which the body is positioned at the center of political disputes (debates).
(2) How sex, gender and sexuality as areas where cultural meanings and values are contested. (3)What does the treatment of bodies tell us about the values, beliefs and ideals in American Culture (you may contrast America with the worldview of other cultures).
(4) How might we as individuals (sex, gender, sexuality) embody these beliefs in light of these debates?

Writing Requirements:
-Essay length: minimum 6 paragraphs
-Double spaced
-Reference ONLY your readings for this course. Do not use other on-line sources.
-References should be parenthetical within the text of your essay. (e.g. (Jones 1964: 13), omit page number for articles read online.
-Referenced examples should support or illustrate your thesis.
-Include a bibliography of the sources you use from the selection of readings.
